Black Sesame Technologies has raised about $69 million in strategic funding led by Wuyuefeng Capital, as the Chinese artificial intelligence chipmaker steps up its expansion into edge computing and embodied intelligence.
The investment, made alongside Wuyuefeng’s industry partners including Shanghai Hongqiao Town Investment Group, will be used for targeted investments and acquisitions across the edge AI and embodied intelligence supply chain, according to people familiar with the matter.
The deal highlights growing investor interest in China’s domestic AI hardware ecosystem, as companies seek to reduce reliance on U.S. suppliers and accelerate applications in robotics, smart manufacturing and intelligent devices.
Black Sesame has said it is transitioning from a pure chip vendor to a platform-based model, integrating silicon, software, development tools and in-house model research to capture more value across the AI technology stack.
The company did not disclose a valuation for the transaction.
