A 25% Trump Tariff on China Would Pose Challenges for Retailer, Says Ralph Lauren CEO

AsianFin -- A potential 25% tariff on Chinese imports could significantly impact iconic retailer Ralph Lauren (RL), said CEO Patrice Louvet.

"It's a pressure point. But again, I think we can work through it, and we can manage it. I think we've lived with tariffs already. It's not a new concept, and we've been able to navigate it," Louvet said during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The specter of increased tariffs under President Trump looms over the retail sector in 2025. During his campaign, Trump proposed various tariff measures, including a 10% to 20% tariff on all foreign imports, a 60% to 100% additional tariff on Chinese goods, and a 25% tariff on Mexican imports.
