AI Giants Delay Release of Next-Generation Models

AsianFin -- Major players in the AI industry are postponing the release of their next-generation models. Last summer, Elon Musk announced on social platform X that the next AI model from his company, xAI, Grok 3, would be trained on 100,000 H100 GPUs and was expected to launch by the end of 2024, promising to be "very special." However, as 2025 has arrived, Grok 3 has still not been released. Notably, other AI companies such as Anthropic and Google have also faced similar delays.

Analysts suggest that the smaller size of the xAI team might be one reason behind the delay of Grok 3's release. However, more importantly, the delays by various AI companies may reflect the current limitations of AI scaling laws. In a previous interview, Musk was asked whether Grok 3 would reach an industry-leading level, and he hinted, "We hope so, that's our goal, but we might fail."
