Barclays Appoints Paul Johnson from Goldman Sachs as Head of Equities for Asia-Pacific

AsianFin -- Barclays Plc has appointed Paul Johnson from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as its new head of equities for Asia-Pacific, marking a key move in the bank's three-year strategy to strengthen its equities business in the region.

Johnson, who has been with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong since 2015, will oversee platforms, products, and client coverage across the Asia-Pacific region. His role includes expanding Barclays' offerings in derivatives, equity-linked financing, electronic trading, and prime brokerage services, according to an internal memo. A Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for Barclays confirmed the details.

This appointment is part of Barclays' broader global initiative to grow its equities division. In February, the London-based bank unveiled a three-year plan aimed at boosting returns by investing more capital into high-margin businesses, including prime brokerage and equity derivatives.
