NextFin News — China’s production of new energy vehicles reached 1.647 million units in August, up 21.9% from a year earlier, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Total automobile output stood at 2.697 million units, down 2.7%. Among other major industrial products, steel output fell 5.5% to 114.75 million tons, cement declined 11.7% to 129.08 million tons, and power generation edged down 0.8% to 943.8 billion kilowatt-hours.
Of the 626 industrial products tracked by the bureau, 286 recorded year-on-year increases in output. Ten non-ferrous metals rose 1.6% and ethylene gained 3.6%, while crude oil processing volume dropped 6.9%.
