China’s Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Beijing has repeatedly made its position clear on U.S. restrictions and tariffs related to semiconductor exports, after U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington would approve sales of Nvidia’s H200 artificial intelligence chips to China in exchange for a roughly 25% fee.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning was responding to a question about Trump’s earlier remarks that the U.S. government would allow the chip exports while collecting a fee on the transactions.
Mao said China has consistently stated its views on U.S. chip export controls and tariff-related measures, without elaborating further.
