Country Controlling Chip Fabrication Will Dominate AI Race, Says Elon Musk

AsianFin -- Elon Musk recently said that the country controlling chip fabrication will ultimately win the global AI race. "For the next few years, I think America is likely to win. Then, it will be about who controls AI chip fabrication. If China controls it, then China will win," Musk stated.

He highlighted that nearly all advanced AI chips are currently manufactured in Taiwan, warning that if China were to invade Taiwan, the global supply of these critical components would be severely disrupted.

Musk emphasized that bringing chip production back to the U.S. is a matter of "national security" and should not be compromised. In recent years, the U.S. has taken significant steps to bolster its semiconductor industry, including the introduction of the "CHIPS Act," which pledges up to $65 billion in incentives for companies establishing facilities nationwide. This policy has already spurred major players like TSMC to set up operations in the U.S., including facilities in Arizona.
