NextFin news, On Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt's Ministry of Military Production confirmed that Egypt has begun exporting weapons and ammunition to some European countries. This development reflects a significant advancement in Egypt's defense manufacturing sector.
Engineer Walid Rasmy, Advisor to the Minister of State for Military Production, stated in an interview on the program “Studio Extra” broadcast on Extra News TV that recent progress in the military production system has enabled Egypt to produce 100% locally manufactured weapons and ammunition. This capability has allowed Egypt to export these products abroad, generating foreign currency and enhancing the country's international standing.
Rasmy explained that the military production journey in Egypt dates back to 1954, initially aimed at meeting the needs of the Egyptian Armed Forces. However, regional developments and surrounding events necessitated the adoption and localization of modern technology within Egyptian factories, a goal that has been achieved recently.
He added that the quality of Egyptian-made weapons and ammunition has gained global recognition, with some European countries currently awaiting their turn to receive Egyptian military supplies. This export activity has become a key focus for the Ministry, supported by the Minister, contributing to placing Egypt on the global map for weapons and ammunition production.
The exports not only support Egypt's defense capabilities but also provide a source of hard currency, thereby supporting the national economy. Egypt's ability to conduct independent research and development in military technology was highlighted as a cornerstone of this achievement, ensuring national self-reliance in defense equipment.
The announcement was made public through the Egyptian news outlet Al-Dostor, citing official statements from the Ministry of Military Production and its representatives.
