AsianFin -- Ren Lifeng, a founding member of Douyin and former Vice President of ByteDance’s PICO division, has successfully raised tens of millions of dollars in a Pre-A funding round for his entrepreneurial venture, "Shumei Wanwu." Known by his ByteDance alias "Juanjuan," Ren's project focuses on building a generative AI (GenAI) creative community.
The funding round was led by Meituan DragonBall Capital, with additional participation from Jinqiu Fund. Existing investors, including Sequoia China and IDG Capital, also contributed to the round. Following this latest investment, Shumei Wanwu is now valued at approximately $150 million.
Ren's deep experience in product development and innovation, particularly during Douyin's formative years, has drawn significant investor interest. The startup aims to leverage generative AI technology to empower creative industries, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for innovation.
