Japan to Introduce First EUV Lithography Equipment

AsianFin— According to market sources, extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment, essential for manufacturing advanced semiconductors, is set to make its debut in Japan.

Rapidus Corporation, based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is expected to introduce EUV equipment at its Chitose plant in Hokkaido by the end of 2024. This marks the first time such equipment will be deployed in Japan. The technology will be supplied by ASML, the Dutch company that is currently the world's sole manufacturer of EUV lithography systems.

Following Rapidus' lead, other semiconductor factories in Japan are anticipated to adopt EUV lithography equipment, heralding a significant advancement in the nation’s semiconductor production capabilities.
