AsianFin -- Las Vegas police said on Tuesday that a highly decorated soldier, Matthew Livelsberger, who exploded a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump hotel, used generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, to help plan the attack.
Nearly a week after Livelsberger, 37, fatally shot himself just before the explosion, authorities continue to review his laptop, cellphone, and watch. Investigations into his ChatGPT search history revealed he had been researching explosive targets, the speed of ammunition rounds, and the legality of fireworks in Arizona.
In response, OpenAI said that it is cooperating with law enforcement to support their investigation. OpenAI emphasized its commitment to encouraging responsible use of its tools and said its goal is for the AI to reject harmful instructions.
