NextFin news, On Thursday, September 11, 2025, a cache of over 18,000 emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s Yahoo account was published, revealing that on Thursday, September 14, 2006, Epstein told his associate Ghislaine Maxwell to remove then-real estate developer Donald Trump from a mysterious power list. The emails were released by Bloomberg and reported by The Daily Beast.
The list, containing 51 names of politicians, financiers, and power players, was sent by Maxwell to Epstein with a request to review and add or remove people. Epstein’s brief reply was simply: "Remove trump." The purpose of the list remains unclear as the emails provide no context or subject line explaining its intent.
This removal occurred two months after Epstein was charged in Florida with solicitation of prostitution, during a period of increasing federal scrutiny. Epstein later signed a secretive non-prosecution agreement in 2007 that spared him from federal charges. Epstein died in 2019 while facing child sex trafficking charges.
The emails also show Maxwell’s involvement in managing Epstein’s social and financial affairs, including coordinating a shared fertility treatment with Epstein in 2005. Maxwell, now serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking, was depicted as closely involved in money movements, reputational management, and logistics.
Donald Trump, who was photographed with Epstein and Maxwell at Mar-a-Lago in 2000, has publicly stated he cut ties with Epstein after Epstein allegedly "stole" female employees from his Mar-a-Lago club. However, reports indicate Epstein remained a member of Mar-a-Lago until October 2007, more than a year after his indictment.
In the emails, Trump’s name appears only a few times, including a 2007 mention where Maxwell noted, "You have to assume they went to donald trump," in reference to potential press and prosecutorial scrutiny. The White House dismissed the email revelations as "stupid, fake news" and denied any improper connection between Trump and Epstein.
The newly released emails provide a rare first-person view of Epstein’s network-building tactics and Maxwell’s role in curating his social universe. The White House reiterated its dismissal of the emails when contacted by The Daily Beast and Bloomberg.
