Nike Inc. announced that Angela Dong, the current head of Greater China, will officially step down on March 31. Simultaneously, Nike appointed Cathy Sparks as the new Vice President and General Manager of Nike Greater China.
Sparks, a 25-year Nike veteran, began her career at the NikeTown retail store in Portland and has since held key leadership roles across multiple global markets. Most recently, she served as Vice President and General Manager for Nike’s Asia Pacific and Latin America (APLA) region.
The Greater China leadership change is part of broader executive adjustments at Nike, including shifts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the APLA regions. With Sparks moving to Greater China, Crissy will serve as interim Vice President and General Manager of APLA. Meanwhile, César Garcia succeeds Carl Grebert as Vice President and General Manager of EMEA, with Grebert officially retiring.
Angela Dong joined Nike China in 2005 and over the past decade has held positions including Nike Global Vice President and General Manager of Greater China. She was instrumental in shaping Nike’s strategic vision and driving sustained business growth in the region. On October 11, 2024, Nike announced that Dong would assume the roles of Chairman and CEO of Nike Greater China, as well as Global CEO of the ACG brand.
Nike said these leadership changes aim to strengthen regional growth strategies and continue the company’s commitment to innovation and market development in key global markets.
