AsianFin -- Shipments of foreign-branded smartphones, including Apple Inc's iPhone, in China increased by 0.6% in December compared to the same month last year, according to data released on Friday by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
Based on CAICT's data, foreign-branded phone shipments in China reached 3.74 million units in December, up from 3.72 million units a year earlier.
As the largest foreign phone player in China's smartphone market, Apple's performance has a significant impact on the overall data for foreign-branded phone shipments in the country.
Overall, phone sales in China surged by 22.1% to 34.53 million units in December, according to CAICT data.
