AsianFin – During Tencent’s annual meeting in Shenzhen on Monday, Tencent Chairman and CEO Pony Ma outlined the company’s ambitions for advancing AI integration. Speaking about Tencent's Technical Engineering Group (TEG), Ma emphasized a focus on implementing end-to-end voice interaction with Tencent’s Hunyuan AI model.
Ma revealed that TEG has undergone structural adjustments to concentrate on building foundational technologies, with productization efforts relying on collaboration with other business units. Reflecting on last year's global surge in investments in large AI models, he noted that companies lacking billion-level profits face significant challenges in developing such models, though smaller firms may still find opportunities in creating large-model-based products.
The Hunyuan model has already been integrated into several Tencent applications, including Tencent Meeting, input methods, and the browser. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to bring AI-powered capabilities to WeChat and QQ. Ma also stressed that Tencent's gaming division will fully embrace AI, signaling a comprehensive shift towards intelligent solutions across its ecosystem.
