Trump Announces Reciprocal and Sectoral Tariffs to Take Effect April 2

AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that both broad reciprocal tariffs and additional sector-specific tariffs will be imposed starting April 2.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump explained that “in certain cases, both” types of tariffs would apply to foreign goods imported into the U.S.

“They charge us, and we charge them, and then on top of that, for autos, steel, and aluminum, we’re going to have additional tariffs,” Trump said on Sunday.

These comments signal Trump’s intent to pursue a more aggressive tariff strategy, despite initial market disruptions and tensions with international allies.
