Trump Revokes Biden Executive Order on Addressing AI Risks

AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday rescinded a 2023 executive order issued by his predecessor, Joe Biden, aimed at mitigating risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI) to consumers, workers, and national security.

The Biden-era order mandated that developers of AI systems with potential national security, economic, or public health risks submit the results of safety evaluations to the federal government under the Defense Production Act before public deployment.

It further instructed federal agencies to establish testing standards and address risks linked to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and cybersecurity concerns. Biden's directive had sought to fill the regulatory gap left by Congress's inability to enact comprehensive legislation governing AI development.
