Trump Suggests U.S. May Stop Purchasing Oil from Venezuela

AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump said that the U.S. is "probably" going to stop purchasing oil from Venezuela, highlighting the country's ample oil resources. "We don’t have to buy their oil, we have plenty of oil," Trump remarked during a press briefing in the Oval Office shortly after taking the oath of office for his second term.

Trump's comments suggest a tougher stance on Venezuela's government under President Nicolás Maduro, a shift from the policies of his predecessor, former President Joe Biden. Analysts have predicted that Venezuela’s oil production could rise to 1 million barrels per day by 2025, before plateauing in 2026.
