AsianFin -- Unitree Robotics, the company behind the humanoid robots that captivated hundreds of millions during China’s New Year’s Eve television gala, could develop an ecosystem similar to that of home electronics giant Xiaomi, according to an early investor in the robotics startup.
"Unitree has the opportunity to become an ecosystem company like Xiaomi," said Zhao Nan, founder of early-stage investment firm SevenUp Capital, in a recent interview with Yicai.
Just as Xiaomi built an extensive ecosystem spanning smartphones, smart home devices, and electric vehicles, Hangzhou-based Unitree can develop a robotics-focused ecosystem centered on its two-legged and four-legged robots, Zhao explained.
Xiaomi’s success has been driven by its ecosystem-based business model, which started with mobile phones and expanded into home electronics and IoT-connected devices, fostering customer loyalty and driving sustained revenue growth. Unitree could follow a similar path, leveraging its advancements in robotics to create a network of interconnected smart products.
