This move allows Hong Kong residents to use their WeChat HKD Wallet to pay taxi fares by scanning driver QR codes and to make payments at small street-side shops by scanning WeChat Pay collection codes.
Data shows that in 2024, Hong Kong residents made 81.91 million trips to mainland China for consumption, marking a 53% increase compared to 2023.
