Chinese authorities on Wednesday released the results of the investigation into artist Cai Guoqiang’s “Ascending Dragon” fireworks show, CCTV News reported.
The report found that the fireworks were set off at an altitude of 4,670 to 5,020 meters, affecting 30.06 hectares of grassland. A total of 1,050 fireworks pots were ignited over a 52-second duration.
The investigation revealed that land leveling, trampling by personnel, and vehicle movement damaged the soil and turf layer structure, with a total affected area of 15.29 mu (about 1 hectare). Additionally, fireworks debris and plastic fragments were not fully cleared, and the intense light and loud noise produced during the display caused temporary disturbance to local wildlife.
