China’s New Energy Vehicle Production, Sales, and Exports Surge Over 50% in First Two Months of 2025

AsianFin — Data released today by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) reveals that China’s automotive industry maintained steady growth in the first two months of 2025, with new energy vehicles (NEVs) leading the charge in production, sales, and exports.

From January to February, China produced and sold 4.553 million and 4.552 million vehicles, respectively, marking year-on-year increases of 16.2% and 13.1%. Notably, NEV production and sales reached 1.903 million and 1.835 million units, surging 52% and 52% compared to the same period last year. NEVs now account for 40.3% of total new vehicle sales in China.

On the export front, NEV exports soared to 282,000 units, a 54.5% year-on-year increase. This robust performance underscores the growing global demand for Chinese-made electric vehicles and highlights the country’s strengthening position in the international automotive market.
