China Pledges to Strengthen Oversight on Livestreaming E-Commerce

AsianFin -- China’s market regulator on Friday emphasized efforts to curb disorderly practices in livestreaming e-commerce and to enforce stricter handling of violations during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Officials pledged to continuously refine the regulatory framework for the platform economy to support its sustainable and healthy development.

Deng Zhiyong, Vice Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), noted that China’s platform economy is at a pivotal stage of transformation. Over the past five years, rapid integration of digital technology across industries has spurred the rise of new business models and forms, creating fresh drivers for economic growth.
