AsianFin -- France’s antitrust regulator has fined Apple €150 million ($162.36 million) for abusing its dominant position in mobile app advertising on iOS and iPadOS between 2021 and 2023 through its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) privacy tool.
The watchdog ruled that Apple’s ATT framework gave the tech giant an unfair advantage in the mobile ad market by restricting third-party access to user data while applying less stringent rules to its own ad services. Alongside the fine, regulators ordered Apple to publish the decision on its website for seven days.
The ruling aligns with a Reuters report from last month, which had anticipated the penalty. Apple has yet to comment on whether it will appeal the decision.
