AsianFin — Google is set to unveil its first augmented reality (AR) glasses at this week’s I/O developer conference, according to a source close to the company.
Similar to its earlier mixed reality (MR) collaboration with Samsung, the AR device has been co-developed with a leading AR hardware partner.
The glasses will reportedly feature a BirdBath optical solution and run on Google's newly developed Android XR operating system. Market launch is expected as early as the second half of this year.
The move signals Google’s renewed push into the spatial computing race, as tech giants increasingly compete to define the future of immersive experiences.
