NextFin news, Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal AP Singh provided details on Operation Sindoor, confirming that India's S-400 Triumf air defence system successfully destroyed six Pakistani aircraft. This included five fighter jets and one large aircraft, identified as either an ELINT or AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft, at a distance of approximately 300 kilometers.
The operation, which took place between May 7 and May 10, 2025, also inflicted damage on Pakistani air force infrastructure. At the Jacobabad airfield, an F-16 hangar was partially destroyed, damaging aircraft inside. Additionally, Indian forces targeted and destroyed at least two command and control centers, including those at Murid and Chaklala, and damaged six radar installations of varying sizes.
Air Chief Marshal Singh described the S-400 system as a game-changer in air defence, effectively keeping Pakistani aircraft and long-range glide bombs at bay by preventing their penetration of Indian airspace. The operation marked the largest surface-to-air kill in Indian Air Force history.
Further deliveries of the S-400 system are expected to enhance India's air defence capabilities in the coming year.
