Samsung Chairman Jay Y. Lee Heads to Washington Following $16.5 Billion Tesla Chip Deal

AsianFin -- Jay Y. Lee, chairman of South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, departed for Washington on Tuesday for a business trip, a company spokesperson confirmed. His visit comes just a day after the company announced a landmark $16.5 billion agreement to supply chips produced at its Texas facility to Tesla.

According to a report by Yonhap News Agency, Lee is also expected to lend support to ongoing trade negotiations between South Korea and the United States during his stay.
