Trump Announces 25% Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Imports

AsianFin -- U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to impose 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports, escalating trade tensions and potentially straining relations with key US trading partners.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump confirmed that the tariffs would apply to imports from all countries, including Mexico and Canada. When asked about exemptions, he stated the levies would cover “everybody” but did not specify when they would take effect.

Additionally, Trump revealed plans to introduce reciprocal tariffs on nations that impose taxes on US imports. These new measures, he said, would be implemented “almost immediately” following an official announcement expected later this week.
