Ukraine's Electronic Warfare Neutralizes Russia's Kinzhal Hypersonic Missiles

NextFin news, Ukraine's military electronic warfare units have effectively neutralized the threat posed by Russia's Kinzhal hypersonic missiles as of this Saturday, September 13, 2025, according to Ukrainian military officials and reports from the public broadcaster Suspilne. The disruption occurs amid ongoing hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

The Kinzhal missiles, hypersonic weapons touted by the Kremlin as unstoppable, have been rendered vulnerable due to Ukraine's sophisticated electronic warfare (EW) capabilities. Ukrainian forces exploit the missiles' high speed, which destabilizes their navigation systems, making them susceptible to electronic interference and trajectory diversion.

In response, Russia has been compelled to invest billions of dollars to upgrade its missile systems, equipping them with advanced Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) modules designed to resist jamming. Each CRPA unit costs between $10,000 and $17,000, and over 8,000 guided bombs and approximately 40,000 Shahed drones have been retrofitted with these modules, totaling an expenditure exceeding $1.5 billion.

Despite these costly upgrades, Ukrainian electronic warfare continues to effectively jam and disrupt the Kinzhal missiles, maintaining their defensive edge in the conflict.

Meanwhile, the war's human toll persists. On Friday, September 12, three Iskander missiles struck the village of Bitîțî near Sumy, killing two women and injuring five others, with widespread destruction of homes. The local mayor declared a day of mourning. Additionally, a drone attack on Thursday killed a security guard at an auto service in Sumy, and an air raid siren sounded for nearly eight hours overnight into Saturday, followed by further bombardment in the region.

These events underscore the ongoing intensity of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, where advanced military technology and human suffering continue in parallel.
