US Sanctions 21 Iranian Entities and 17 Individuals Over Missile and Military Aircraft Production

NextFin news, WASHINGTON — On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced sanctions against 21 Iranian entities and 17 individuals linked to networks facilitating the acquisition of sensitive goods and technology for Iran's missile and military aircraft production, according to an official statement.

The designated networks support Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) by procuring technology for advanced surface-to-air missile systems and illicitly acquiring US-manufactured helicopters. The Treasury Department emphasized that these capabilities pose significant threats to US service members in the Middle East, commercial vessels in international waters, and civilians.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, "Iran's ballistic missile and conventional weapons capabilities, supported by the networks designated today, threaten the security of the Middle East, the United States, and our allies worldwide. Under President Trump's leadership, we will deny the regime weapons it would use to further its malign objectives."

The sanctions come in the wake of recently reimposed United Nations penalties targeting Iran's nuclear program, which include freezing Iranian assets abroad, halting arms deals, and penalizing ballistic missile development. The US move aims to reinforce these international measures by targeting individuals and firms directly involved in Iran's military production efforts.

The Treasury Department's action highlights ongoing US concerns over Iran's support for terrorist proxies and its pursuit of nuclear weapons, which Washington views as destabilizing factors in the region.

The sanctions restrict the designated individuals and entities from accessing the US financial system and prohibit US persons from engaging in transactions with them.

This announcement follows a series of US sanctions targeting Iran's military and nuclear activities, reflecting continued efforts to curb Tehran's regional influence and weapons development programs.
